The Spark Behind Nexus

Updated: Feb 3, 2025

Navigating the world of finance can be overwhelming, especially when you are first starting your financial journey. The complex financial systems that exist can discourage many people from bettering themselves financially. The frustration with these complex systems coupled with our passion for financial literacy and education is what inspired Nexus Research.

Our journey began in January 2024, when the co-founders first teamed up at Baldwin Wallace University for a mergers and acquisitions case study competition. One brought experience in finance and accounting, while the other brought expertise in marketing and business administration. Together, we dove into the financial world through the ACG Cup competition. After many late nights and hard work, our team secured Baldwin Wallace’s first win in 15 years.

Later that year, in November, we tackled another exciting challenge: a business valuation competition hosted by Georgia State University. This opportunity took us to Atlanta, where our team earned an impressive second-place finish. It was after this competition that the idea for Nexus Research truly came to life.

After returning from Atlanta, we realized just how wide the gap is between what you learn in school and the realities of financial literacy. Despite studying finance and accounting, there were still gaps to fill after graduation. Managing day-to-day obligations while trying to set up a budget, save for a house, pay off student loans, and prepare for taxes proved to be a struggle. These shared challenges made it clear that finance shouldn't be this complicated or intimidating.

At Nexus Research, our mission is to simplify financial topics so everyone can benefit, no matter their background. The information we share has real-world applications, helping you save both time and money. Financial literacy shouldn’t come at the expense of enjoying life—it’s about finding balance and building confidence.

We’re just getting started, and there’s so much more to come. Our website is home to a growing list of financial resources, and we’re excited to share helpful blogs, engaging YouTube videos, and even host workshops in the future.

Financial freedom starts with financial literacy and we’re here to help you every step of the way.
